Stampin’ Up! Layering Love [monochromatic]

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today I am sharing with you a simple monochromatic card using a few retiring products. Well, almost monochromatic if you don’t count Whisper White. The stamp set, Layering Love, color Marina Mist and Whisper White sheer ribbon will be retiring at the end of May. The stamp set is guaranteed to be available until May 25th, however, all other retiring products are available until supplies last. So don’t wait to order or they may be gone.

Here is the stamp set

Here is the card I made using one of the sentiment stamps from the Layering Love stamp set. Using Marina Mist ink, I stamped the image on a piece of Whisper White and then die cut it using one of the hearts from the Sweet & Sassy Framelit dies. I used the next larger heart from the same framelit set and cut a heart out of Marina Mist cardstock.

The next thing I did was emboss the piece of Marine Mist cardstock that was cut at 3 1/4″ x 4 3/4″ using the Simple Stripes textured Impressions Embossing Folder. To create the diagonal stripes, turn the card stock slightly in the embossing folder before you run it through the Big Shot.

Assemble the card

1. Create your card base. For this sample, I cut a piece of Marina Mist 8 1/2″ x 11″ cardstock in half to measure 4 1/4″ x 11″ and folded in half.
2. Wrap some Whisper White Sheer Ribbon around the embossed piece of cardstock.
3. Using SNAIL or your preferred adhesive, adhere the embossed piece of cardstock to the card base. Another good adhesive to use with textured paper is multipurpose glue.
4. Using Stampin’ Dimensionals, adhere the small heart to the larger heart. See image for placement of the two hearts. Then using Dimensionals again, adhere the two hearts just below the center of the card and ribbon.
5. Last, adhere a piece of Whisper White (4″ x 5 /4″) to the inside of the card. This step is not pictured.

One More Option

Here is a similar card I made using Perfect Plum and the Layering Love stamp set. For this card, I added a layer of Whisper White (4″ x 5 1/4″). Adding the mat really makes this card pop.
